Medicated beard wash for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis
Facial Fortress combines pyrithione zinc 0.95% with a fragrance-free cleansing formula for your face, beard, hair and scalp. It helps relieve the flaking, scaling, itching, redness and irritation associated with dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. When washing your beard, work the lather through the hair so it reaches the skin underneath.
This 8 fl oz (237 mL) wash was developed by Dr. Eddie Valenzuela, MD, FAAP, the physician founder of Happy Cappy. Facial Fortress brings that sensitive-skin formulation experience to men’s face, hair and beard care.
Choosing a beard shampoo for dandruff
A medicated wash has a different job from an everyday cleanser. Choose it for its labeled dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis uses, and compare the active ingredient, intended areas, fragrance and complete formula. Facial Fortress pairs its medicated active with mild, non-soap cleansing agents and supporting ingredients such as glycerin and panthenol. It is fragrance-free, dye-free and made without SLS or SLES.
Our Ingredients & Drug Facts page explains the formula and provides the full label. For a broader comparison of cleansing ingredients, see the beard-wash ingredient guide.
Using Facial Fortress as directed
Wet hair thoroughly, massage onto scalp and skin, and rinse. For best results, use at least twice a week or as directed by a doctor. The Drug Facts directions do not specify a timed leave-on period. Avoid contact with eyes; rinse eyes thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
For external use only. Ask a doctor before use if you have seborrheic dermatitis covering a large area of the body. Stop use and ask a doctor if the condition worsens or does not improve after regular use as directed. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or call a Poison Control Center right away. The Usage tab and full Drug Facts keep these directions and warnings together.
Choosing care for the cause of the flakes
Facial Fortress is intended for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. Simple dryness, reactions to grooming products and beard ringworm are different concerns. A medicated dandruff wash does not replace the care those conditions may need. Our guide to seborrheic dermatitis under the beard explains the condition and links to the relevant care guides.
Response to treatment varies, so follow the label without expecting a guaranteed result by a particular day. For product questions, visit the Facial Fortress FAQs. For the rest of your grooming routine, see the face and beard care guide.
